Two Reasons to be HONKED OFF at a *Certain* Fabric Chain!!!

And by honked off- I mean ANGRY. ENOJADO (in espanol).

pic randomly selected from internets

Reason 1:

I bought fabric on sale three weeks ago via the internets from FABRIC CHAIN.. 6 yards total. I went to wash it yesterday, and guess what.....the bastards gave me 5 continuous yards then 1 yard by itself! THE HORROR! I made my dress ok, but I was worried about not having enough. I rearranged my cutting so the 4 full skirt pieces took up the 5 yards, and the bodices cut out on the singe yard.
What a dirty trick right??!! I paid for, what I thought, was 6 continuous yards!

pic also result of random google search

Reason 2.
They be messin wit my Mama! My Mama went in yesterday to buy fabric for a quilt. She went up to the counter and they told her they won't sell her the fabric! Then they accused her of taking expensive fabric and winding it around a cheap fabric bolt to rip off FABRIC CHAIN! WHAT???!! Mom just picked up a bolt of cute teddy Bear fabric and it was marked $6 like all the other fabrics next to it. AND she had a coupon for 50 percent off. So she was already going to save money on it. She didn't know that it was Boyd's Bears and it was designer, and should have been 3x more expensive! How in the world....how do people unwind and rewind fabric in the store??? They told my Mama that it happens alot. So they just thought she was crook! It was embarrassing and hurtful to Mama and she was quite put off by FABRIC CHAIN and promptly told them that she can't wait until Walmart brings back their fabric!

Can you guess who this douche bag FABRIC CHAIN is?

To be honest, I've had bad luck at both Hancock's and JoAnn's. I'd believe it of either one. I can't tell you how many times I've come home either one empty-handed cause the fabric all sucks or been pissed off because the fabric changes hand after washing or even worse, the garment falls apart after 2-3 washes because the fabric is ow quality. They both can suck it!

It has to be Jo-Anne's. I have stopped going to my local one because the customer service is horrible. The staff is clueless when it comes to crafts and fabric...

I hope she or you report both of these incidents to their corporate or district superiors! Obviously you both know what you're doing and do it well! No one deserves to be screwed like that! Damn! Gets me so mad!

If you're like me, messing with my mom is a big no-no.....My mom rocks and whichever store would be receiving a stinging letter, as would corporate headquarters......
G Street has much better service..

What the hell?! Wow, it could be JoAnne or Hancock but I'm betting JoAnne's. I live in St Louis and Walmart has just started putting up the fabric sections here. I hope they make their way to your store soon! How rude and infuriating!!

Wal-mart is bring back fabric? Our Wal-Mart is putting on a huge expansion (to become a super center? Right next to a grocery store?!), maybe they'll have fabric now!
I just bought some bathing suit fabric, I think 2 yards...and the fabric has a pattern break 1/2 way through one piece, and they included another part piece. Who designs a complete pattern break every yard?! And why didn't they mention it on the website?!

My local Jo-Ann's is not like this, at least for customer service. I am sorry to hear of the idiocy regarding your mama.

What a joke. Why are the people that work at fabric stores so rude? Hope you have better luck with this shop in the future! xoxo :)

This makes me thankful that the UK doesn't have fabric chain stores! There's Hobbycraft but their fabric section is tiny and expensive, and stores are few and far between, so I'm not counting it.

My local fabric store has a few branches but is a regional, family-owned affair, and service is generally very good. They're not great for the amazing prints you and I love for our dresses, but those can always be had online :)

That's shocking customer service... I'd send it back if they sent me unusable scraps instead of continuous yardage, and surely a simple 'sorry, there's a mistake with this fabric, it's obviously been priced wrongly' is far better than accusing somebody of trying to defraud them! Way to lose customers, FABRIC CHAIN!

I guess people also swap the tags on clearance fabrics...

A few months ago I bought some fabric off the clearance rack (same FABRIC CHAIN) that I thought was $4 a yard. It was some polyester stuff that reminded me of a top I had missed out on buying in a store - so I wanted to re-create it.

Got home and it turns out that it was more like $10 a yard. So my 3 yards went from $12 to $30.

When I called about it - just to warn them, really that the fabric was mis-marked. I figured I deserved what I got for not having the cutter scan the price for me. I was offered a discount but she also sounded kind of rude like I swapped the clearance sticker to the high priced stuff myself!
